Health and Safety for residential builders and their contractors

Pegasus Town construction aims to have…

  • Construction work completed in a safe and competent manner
  • Infrastructure services and facilities protected and to remain operational
  • The peace, privacy and security of each property owner not adversely affected.

health_and_safety_houseThe Accident Compensation Corporation, (ACC), Site Safe, the Department of Labour in association with David Magill Builders, Stonewood Homes, Pegasus Homes, Mike Greer Homes and Golden Homes want to set a new standard and benchmark for the residential building construction industry by achieving excellence in health and safety.

This initiative is aimed to improve the understanding of and compliance with New Zealand’s Health and Safety requirements and people’s attitude, behaviour and control.

Health and safety inductions

All builders and their contractors must attend a one hour site induction. Contractors will be supplied with an induction card that will need to be shown upon request if working on the Pegasus site.

To check on course dates contact the course presenter Grant Craig on 920 3050 or 021 288 2344.

Safety plans and training

Another initiative for the participating builders is that they establish a robust safety plan and attend recognised training. This would entitle them to a discount on their ACC employer levies.

health_and_safety_secondPegasus Town covenants

All builders and contractors need to be aware of and comply with the Pegasus Town Covenants (Building Construction & Lot Development Covenants, and also Land Covenants) where applicable. These cover a range of areas including work hours, noise, fencing, lot access, parking, site sheds, visitors, pets, rubbish, wash down of vehicles, soak pits and swales, enforcement and a host of other topics.

Effective health and safety must be applied for work carried out within Pegasus Town. Compliance monitoring will be carried out by the Pegasus Compliance Supervisor.
